Comprehensible protest against the absurd mass tourism in Berlin-Kreuzberg

 

Currently Berlin is more fascinating, more international (53% of all Berliners – tendency growing – are “newbies” and “anywheres”), more surprising and also more hip(ster) and nipster*, and maybe therefore, more expensive than ever.

Nevertheless, since summer 2018 Berlin has been the third most attractive metropolis after London and New York for workers, freelancers, cosmopolitans and business start-ups. But only few inhabitants profit from the persistent gentrification and the increasing, absurd mass tourism — the touristification!

 

*The “Nipster” is the latest fad in Germany’s right-wing extremist scene. Nipster (neo-Nazi hipster) is a colloquial term used in Germany to refer to young neo-Nazis who have adopted aspects of hipster culture. The stylized self-portrayal of a new far-right generation helps to attract younger members.

In the US Affluent Traveler Survey of 2018, Skift notes that while sightseers and activity seekers make up 20% of the US population, “they account for 51% of travel expenses in the US.”

67% would prefer to spend their money on sightseeing and other activities than on a better hotel. That is an increase of 8% over the previous year.

In addition, 75% of affluent travelers “participated in at least one organized tour or activity”.

Ohne Vansightseeing ist nicht ganz

 

Simultan werden – jedenfalls bei den meisten Menschen – verschiedene Impressionen verarbeitet. Eigene Sichtungen und Sichtachsen mit den beflissenen, manchmal auch provokanten Darlegungen des Chaufführers und den Kommentaren der Mitsehenden und all das Mit- und Zwischenmenschliche strömen fast ohne Unterlass auf einen ein. Zudem bringen offene Fragen, Ideen, Blitzgedanken oder unerwartete Foto-Stopps das untrainierte Hirn ins Wanken.  

Das Beste ist jedoch am Kultouren auf fremden Fluren, es hinterlässt daheim die Spuren!

        Who built Theben of the seven gates?  In the books you will find the names of kings.  Did the kings haul up the lumps of the rock?  And Babylon, many time demolished.  Who raised it up so many times?  In what houses of gold-glittering Lima  did the builders lived?  Where, the evening that the Wall of China  where finished did the masons go?  Great Rome is full of triumphal arches.  Who erected them?  Over whom did the Ceasars triumph?  Had Byzantium, much raised in song,  only palaces for ist inhabitants?  Even in fabled Atlantis the night the ocean  engulfed it the drowning still bawled for their slaves.  The young Alexander conquered India.  Was he alone?  Caesar beat the Gauls.  Did he not have even a cook with him?  Philip of Spain wept when his armada went done.  Was he the only one to weep?  Frederick the Second won the Seven Years’ War.  Who else won it?  Every page a victory.  Who cooked the feast for the victors?  Every ten years a great man.  Who paid the bill?  So many reports. So many questions.

        Wer baute das siebentorige Theben?  In den Büchern stehen die Namen von Königen.  Haben die Könige die Felsbrocken herbeigeschleppt?  Und das mehrmals zerstörte Babylon,  wer baute es so viele Male auf?  In welchen Häusern des goldstrahlenden Lima wohnten die Bauleute?  Wohin gingen an dem Abend, wo die chinesische Mauer fertig war, die Maurer?  Das große Rom ist voll von Triumphbögen. Wer errichtete sie?  Über wen triumphierten die Cäsaren?  Hatte das vielbesungene Byzanz nur Paläste für seine Bewohner?  Selbst in dem sagenhaften Atlantis brüllten doch in der Nacht,  wo das Meer es verschlang, die Ersaufenden nach ihren Sklaven.  Der junge Alexander eroberte Indien. Er allein?  Cäsar schlug die Gallier. Hatte er nicht wenigstens einen Koch bei sich?  Philipp von Spanien weinte, als seine Flotte untergegangen war. Weinte sonst niemand?  Friedrich der Zweite siegte im Siebenjährigen Krieg.  Wer siegte außer ihm?  Jede Seite ein Sieg.  Wer kochte den Siegesschmaus?  Alle zehn Jahre ein großer Mann.  Wer bezahlte die Spesen?  So viele Berichte.  So viele Fragen.
